Cross Data Center Replication
Cross data center replication (XDCR) is an automatic feature of Couchbase that replicates data across data centers, cloud regions, and even cloud providers. XDCR is bidirectional and includes built-in conflict resolution. It’s designed to provide high availability and global distribution of data, enabling the best possible performance for enterprise applications.
High availability and disaster recovery for globally distributed data
Flexible replication across Couchbase clusters
Couchbase XDCR provides simplified data replication technology that enables enterprises to have five-nines data availability, global distribution of data, flexible replication topologies, and a hybrid/multicloud strategy, all while operating at the speed of network.
Cost-effective solution for geo-distribution of data, high availability, and hybrid deployments
Global
Provide consistent user experiences to your entire global audience with minimal latency.
Continuous
Ensure minimal impact to business continuity during crises such as catastrophic failures at the data center or the regional level.
Flexible
Gain the flexibility to deploy anywhere, anytime on literally any platform or a combination of platforms (on premises, any cloud, containers).
Consistent
Automatically replicate data across a worldwide deployment automatically and securely in both directions without human intervention.
XDCR key capabilities
Cross data center replication (XDCR) replicates data between clusters to provide protection against data center failure, and to provide high-performance data access for globally distributed, mission-critical applications. By replicating data across a distributed environment, you spread the workload to ensure consistency and responsiveness for mission-critical applications.
Deployment flexibility
XDCR allows you to globally distribute data to meet the demands of a worldwide user base.
High availability
Distributed workloads provide fault tolerance to maximize uptime and keep business running.
Consistency and security
XDCR happens behind the scenes to ensure that data is seamlessly and securely replicated across the app ecosystem.
Unmatched resource utilization and flexibility in replication topologies
Complex XDCR topologies offer a high degree of resource utilization with high availability and responsiveness. They also act as hot standby in case of failures, with each cluster capable of taking reads and writes.
Tuning parameters for use cases and cost savings
Conserve bandwidth with the ability to compress, filter data, cap bandwidth consumption, and set replication priorities. For cloud deployments, bandwidth conservation leads to direct cost savings. XDCR filtering options can be used for multiple use cases, including geolocation and geofencing.
Easy setup and multiple use cases
Couchbase XDCR can be set up with just a few clicks in just a couple of minutes.
You can use XDCR to migrate Couchbase data from one platform to another and avoid vendor lock-in. You can also deploy in a hybrid environment to get the best of both worlds.
What customers are saying
“Couchbase is a trifecta of value. We get more features, save time, and spend less money all at once.”
“Harnessing the power of the cloud through Capella allowed us to deploy applications in multiple regions in parallel quickly and seamlessly.”
“What we value a lot is that Couchbase was able to embrace our vision to the cloud, and the fact that we wanted to operate data stores directly on PaaS.”
“With Couchbase, building these resilient large solutions, it puts us in a good place to really achieve our goal of a perfect customer experience.”
